The importance of an effective CV in today’s job market cannot be over emphasised – a good CV can increase your chances of securing an interview.
Your CV must be interesting, informative and should clearly communicate your skills, knowledge, achievements and experience, without being too long, too detailed or too vague.

What is to be included in a effective CV?
- Personal Details, (Name, Address, Current Contact details)
- Key Skills highlighting the key words for the role applied for (limit to a maximum of 10 skills so as not to confuse potential employers and recruitment consults who will want to see quickly that you are capable of undertaking the role
- Education, Qualifications, Professional Qualifications and Membership
- Employment History incorporating Responsibilities and Achievements in a bullet point format
- Evidence in you Employment History that you are suitable for the role applied for
- Personal Interests should be included in moderate detail
- A layout that is simple and clear, do not over complicate with non standard fonts, colours or formatting
- For a creative role (i.e. Design Engineering, Graphic Design, Web Development) a more creative presentation style is recommended including examples of your work
