  • Exciting Career Opportunity for a Head of Formulation to Join a Drug Delivery Company based in Glasgow, Specialising in the Development of Novel Pharmaceutical Products, Using the Company’s Proprietary, Novel Drug Delivery Technology
  • Pivotal Role Reporting to the CEO, Responsible for Leading Formulation Development, Process Development, Process Optimisation, Scale-Up and Clinical Manufacturing Activities for All Development Projects


  • Work with the Clinical Review Board to Identify Product Opportunities for the Company’s Technology Platform, bringing Knowledge of API and Formulation Challenges to the Assessment of Candidate Products
  • Conduct Briefings and Technical Meetings for Top Management and Representatives
  • Work Closely with the Clinical Team to Transfer and Initiate Clinical Proof of Concept Studies on Novel Formulations
  • Review and Authorise Reports/Documents eg Product Development Reports
  • Author Scientific Publications and to Present at Conferences and Scientific Meetings
  • Act as Source of Technical Expertise within the Company, Keeping Abreast of Developments Within the Field
  • Support Patent Filing and Prosecution


  • PhD, BPharm or BSc (Pharmacy, Chemistry and/or Related Subjects)
  • Minimum 5 Years’ Experience in the Design of Novel Oral Formulations and their Development in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Including Experience of Technology Transfer, Scale Up and GMP Manufacture
  • Experience of Hot Melt Extrusion would be Beneficial
  • Solid Understanding of Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms, Including Controlled Release Drug Delivery Technologies
  • Knowledge of Drug Development Processes and Regulatory Requirements
  • Knowledge of EU/FDA Regulatory Guidance’s, ICH Guidelines and Requirements of Regulatory Submissions
  • Experience in Robust Product Development and Implementation of QbD Principles
  • Proven Experience of Managing Teams
  • Excellent Communication Skills, Written, Spoken and Presentation
